School Council

At New Delaval Primary School, we have 2 representatives from each class from Reception to Year 6. These pupils are our School Councilors. In order for them to be appointed, each class held a voting afternoon where pupils presented their case to be a School Councilor. Once each pupil had their vote, the boy and girl with the top votes were elected onto the school council team, where they joined Mrs Monaghan, our School Council Lead, to take an active part in the running of school life and most importantly, be the voice of all our pupils.

Mrs Monaghan and our School Councilors meet two times a half-term. Here, they discuss current matters and upcoming events. Within these meetings, each member of the team has a role and is able to share the voice of their class regarding the matters being discussed.

Our school council team have brought in some brilliant initiatives, including Friday Book Club, Playtime and Lunchtime quiet corners, board game areas, drawing and reading spaces and an activity zone.
